Room-Temperature Curable Coatings

SILZ-RT61 — Thin-Film Anti-Rust Ceramic Coating (Epoxy-Modified)

SILZ-RT61 is a room-temperature curable, epoxy-modified polysilazane ceramic coating that puts >5000 h of neutral salt spray endurance into a single 40 µm coat. One-component, one pass, cured ambient in a day — thin-film heavy-duty anticorrosion without the multi-coat systems it replaces.

Silfluo SILZ-RT61 thin-film anti-rust ceramic coating (epoxy-modified)

Product Overview

Epoxy modification does the balancing: polysilazane brings hardness (≥5H), covalent adhesion and >200 °C service, while the epoxy function adds film flexibility and wet-adhesion insurance. Zinc phosphate and inorganic silicon fillers pack the cured film into a dense, glossy, waterproof barrier.

This is the flagship of our thin-film antirust program: boiler parts, pipes, valves and heat exchangers; railway bridges, marine engineering and oil pipelines; welds, bolts and railings — plus consumer-adjacent duty like burner caps and cookware where a hard gray-white ceramic film earns its keep.

Key Benefits

>5000 h salt spray in one coat

Heavy-duty corrosion endurance from a single 40 ± 5 µm pass — a fraction of the film build of conventional heavy-duty systems.

One-component convenience

No mixing ratio to miss: open, stir, spray, cure ambient (>24 h) or at 180 °C in half an hour.

Hard yet tough film

≥5H hardness with epoxy-modified flexibility and Grade 0 adhesion survives handling, bolting and thermal movement.

>200 °C continuous service

Keeps protecting where standard epoxy antirust paints soften and chalk, with 400 °C instantaneous capability.

Typical Applications

  • Boilers, pipes & valves
  • Heat exchangers
  • Railway bridges
  • Marine equipment
  • Oil pipelines
  • Steel structures, welds & bolts
  • Cookware

Curing & Processing Guidance

Surface preparation: Sa 2.5 target (minimum St 3, no mill scale), degreased and dry. Stir to uniformity; mixed viscosity runs 21–30 s.

Spray one pass at 40 ± 5 µm dry film; coverage runs 6–10 m²/kg. Pot life after opening is 6 hours.

Ambient cure exceeds 24 hours to full properties; 180 °C shortens it to under 30 minutes. For field structures, plan weather windows as with any ambient-cure coating — humidity accelerates, cold slows.

Substrate Compatibility

Carbon steel first — bridges, pipelines, structural steel, welds and fasteners — plus cast iron, stainless and aluminum after standard preparation. For galvanized or previously coated surfaces, run an adhesion patch test; protocols ship with the TDS.

SILZ-RT61 — Purchasing & Application FAQ

Is 40 µm really enough for heavy-duty environments?

The >5000 h neutral salt spray result is measured at the specified 40 ± 5 µm film. Dense filler packing plus covalent bonding deliver barrier performance conventional systems reach only with hundreds of microns — that thin-film economics is the product's reason to exist.

RT61 or EPPSZ-2K — how do I choose?

Both are epoxy-modified with 5000 h-class salt spray. RT61 is one-component: simplest logistics and application. EPPSZ-2K is two-component (A:B = 1:1) with a verified 300 °C thermal-shock result — choose it where cure control and thermal cycling dominate; choose RT61 for field simplicity.

Can it be used on items that contact food, like cookware exteriors?

It serves exterior duty on small appliances and cookware components (burner caps, rice-cooker parts). Direct food-contact surfaces need application-specific compliance review — ask us with your regulatory market.
