Cyclic Silazane Monomers

Cyclic silazane monomers are the defined building blocks of polysilazane chemistry: single-structure Si-N rings with public CAS numbers, supplied at ≥96% purity. Where polymer grades give you finished properties, monomers give you control — ring-opening polymerization builds high-purity precursors to exactly the molecular weight and architecture your process defines.

Two forms cover process preferences: SILZ-CY-3 (HMCTS) is the liquid trimer for direct dosing and reaction; SILZ-CY-4 (OMCTS) is the crystalline tetramer with a sharp 225 ± 2 °C boiling point for distillation-based purification workflows. Both feed PV and semiconductor protective-coating supply chains and, blended with methylhydrosilazane, the Si-C-N ceramic fiber route.

Physical form and process fit

Liquid CY-3 doses straight into reactors; solid CY-4 suits plants that meter solids or purify by distillation against its defined boiling point.

Ring size and architecture

Trimer versus tetramer changes ring-opening kinetics and the repeat-unit bookkeeping of your polymer design — most routes qualify one as primary and the other as alternate.

Documentation depth

Both carry public CAS numbers, ≥96% purity, TDS/SDS and batch COA. Semiconductor-bound purchases can discuss qualification lots with tighter windows.

Are these monomers usable as coatings by themselves?

No. Si-CH₃ groups cure poorly alone; monomers are blended with reactive organosilazanes (like SILZ-701) for curable films, or polymerized into precursors first. Their value is synthesis control, not direct film forming.

What moisture precautions do cyclic silazanes need?

Si-N rings hydrolyze on moisture contact, which costs purity. Handle under dry or inert conditions, keep containers tightly sealed, and use dry transfer equipment throughout.

Can you supply larger volumes for production polymerization?

Yes — evaluation quantities ship from 1 kg, and production volumes are quoted with lead time and specification agreements. State your annual demand and target spec for a supply proposal.
