Functional Polysilazane Coatings & Systems

SILZ-PEPSZ — Polyester-Modified Polysilazane (Flexible)

SILZ-PEPSZ is a polyester-modified polysilazane engineered for the property hard polysilazanes lack: flexibility. The cured film survives a 180° bend without cracking and 4 hours of boiling water without delamination, while keeping 30-day salt spray endurance, >110° hydrophobicity and covalent adhesion — the flexible insulating grade of our functional line.

Product Overview

Polyester segments and hydroxyl groups grafted into the Si-N backbone trade a few hardness points (≥2H) for elastomer-class conformability. That trade unlocks lithium-battery high-voltage insulation, enameled wire and flexible cable systems, and any substrate that flexes, vibrates or thermally cycles.

Beyond electricals it serves high-strength cement products, thermal-insulation and reflective coatings, dielectric base primers, ship hull protection, and bonding duty for FRP, rigid plastics, concrete and electrical encapsulation — from -30 to 300 °C.

Key Benefits

180° bend without failure

Full flexibility under microscope examination — insulation that moves with wire, cable and flexing parts.

4-hour boiling water endurance

No blistering, delamination or cracking — validated wet-heat robustness for battery and marine duty.

Lithium-battery insulation pedigree

Purpose-designed for new-energy high-voltage insulating coatings and flexible cable systems.

Bonds difficult substrates

FRP, rigid plastics, concrete and encapsulation duty ride the same hydroxyl-rich chemistry.

Curing & Processing Guidance

Prepare metals to Sa 2.5 (minimum St 3); for FRP, plastics and concrete, abrade and clean per our substrate note. Filter the one-component material through a 120-mesh sieve.

Spray at 35–45 µm dry film with a 1.0 mm nozzle; coverage runs 10–15 m²/kg. Pot life is 6 hours.

Ambient cure: surface dry >1 h, touch dry >2 h, full cure >24 h. Heat option: 140 °C for 30–40 minutes — the gentlest bake schedule in our line, chosen to respect temperature-sensitive assemblies like battery components.

Substrate Compatibility

Metals, enameled wire and cable insulation systems, FRP, rigid plastics, concrete and cementitious products, ship hulls. For battery-cell and pack components, we support withstand-voltage and flexibility validation on your part geometry.

SILZ-PEPSZ — Purchasing & Application FAQ

Why accept ≥2H hardness when other grades offer 6-8H?

Because those grades crack when bent. PEPSZ trades hardness for verified 180° flexibility and boiling-water endurance — on wire, cable, battery parts and flexing structures, that trade is the requirement, not a compromise. For rigid parts, choose a harder sibling.

Is it suitable for lithium battery pack components specifically?

High-voltage insulation for new-energy lithium batteries is a design application: ≥10¹³-class insulation behavior in a flexible, wet-heat-proof film with a gentle 140 °C bake option. Send your component drawings and withstand-voltage spec for a validation plan.

Can PEPSZ primer under other coatings?

Yes — it is used as a dielectric base primer. Its hydroxyl-functional surface accepts compatible topcoats; run an intercoat adhesion check with your system, and we will advise pairings.
