SILZ-150K is the rapid-cure grade of our solvent-free, one-component polysilazane resin line. It self-cures at room temperature through moisture-triggered Si-NH-Si reactions, reaching ≥6H pencil hardness, >500 h salt spray resistance and Grade 0 covalent adhesion — engineered for production lines where takt time, not open time, sets the pace.

Product Overview

Chemistry and film properties mirror SILZ-150: hydrolysis and oxidation of the Si-NH-Si backbone drive cure, the same groups bond covalently to substrate hydroxyls, and an optional catalyst densifies the Si-H crosslink network. What changes is kinetics — SILZ-150K reaches handling strength markedly faster, so coated parts move to the next station sooner.

Like the rest of the series, SILZ-150K doubles as a formulation intermediate: an amine-type curing agent, or a heat- and weather-resistance modifier for hydroxyl-functional phenolic, epoxy, alkyd and acrylic resins.

Curing & Processing Guidance

Prepare surfaces exactly as for SILZ-150: grind or sandblast to Sa 2.5 (minimum St 3, no mill scale), degrease and dry. Filter the resin through a 120-mesh sieve if needed and spray with a 1.0 mm nozzle.

Keep dry film at 20–70 µm in one coat. The faster kinetics tighten the practical spray window — plan batch sizes so opened material is used within 4 hours, and clean equipment promptly after each run.

Cure proceeds at room temperature with no external trigger; full properties develop after 18 hours. Where line speed demands even faster turnover, mild warm air accelerates cure — ask our engineers for a schedule matched to your takt.

Substrate Compatibility

Carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloy, titanium alloy, high-temperature alloy steel, glass-ceramics, ceramics and cement. Formulation adjustments per substrate and thermal-cycling conditions are available — describe your line and part, and we will confirm the setup.

How much faster is SILZ-150K than SILZ-150?

SILZ-150K reaches handling strength significantly sooner at the same ambient conditions, which is what matters for line takt. Exact times depend on temperature, humidity and film thickness — we provide comparative cure curves for your conditions on request.

Is the cured film any different from SILZ-150?

No. Hardness (≥6H), salt spray (>500 h), adhesion (Grade 0), electrical values and outdoor performance are equivalent — the difference is cure kinetics, not film chemistry.

Can I run SILZ-150K on a heated line to go even faster?

Yes. Mild warm-air acceleration is common on automated lines. Send us your target takt time and oven capability and we will recommend a cure schedule.
