Silfluo has completed development and is now supplying LR-ELS400, a phenyl-modified viscoelastic silicone compound formulated as a damping medium for closed-cavity buffer and shock absorber systems.
LR-ELS400 is currently supplied to damper manufacturers in domestic and export markets. Confirmed deployment sectors include high-speed rail draft gear and coupler buffer systems, bridge and civil infrastructure dampers, marine vibration control, mining and metallurgical equipment shock absorbers, and defense vehicle isolation systems. Export supply to Russia is active.
About LR-ELS400
LR-ELS400 is an unvulcanized phenyl silicone compound. It is not a molded rubber part. It functions as the energy-absorbing medium inside a precision-engineered closed cavity — the material must be matched to the damper’s piston geometry, pre-pressure, cavity volume, and stroke design.
| Parameter | Specification |
| Appearance | Grey viscous liquid |
| Phenyl content | 2.0–30.0 mol% (adjustable) |
| Viscosity (25°C) | 2,000–10,000,000 mPa·s (adjustable) |
| Low-temperature performance | Maintains viscoelastic behavior at cryogenic temperatures |
| Radiation resistance | Suitable for radiation exposure environments |
| Shelf life | 60 months |
| Packaging | 20 kg pail / 200 kg drum |
Phenyl content and viscosity are adjusted based on the target damping curve, service temperature, pre-pressure, and piston gap geometry. Final performance depends on formulation grade, damper structure, sealing design, and field validation.
Development Background
Silfluo developed LR-ELS400 with technical input from collaboration with CRRC, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CSSC, and national research institutes over several years. The development focus was on achieving batch-to-batch viscosity consistency and stable viscoelastic behavior under repeated shear loading — the two material properties that most directly affect damper force-displacement repeatability in high-capacity systems.
Earlier domestic elastic putty products were mainly low-capacity systems. LR-ELS400 was developed specifically to meet the material requirements of high-capacity buffer designs for rail transit, infrastructure, and defense applications.
Supply and Application Scope
LR-ELS400 is supplied as a raw damping medium to damper manufacturers, not as a finished damper assembly. Buyers are responsible for housing design, piston geometry, sealing method, pre-pressure system, and assembly validation.
The material is not suitable for use as an exposed bumper, open vibration pad, or direct replacement for hydraulic oil without damper redesign.
For applications requiring a molded silicone component with defined hardness and geometry, phenyl silicone rubber (PVMQ) compounds are the appropriate alternative.
